Just a quick post today; something that was shared with me recently by Double J. While I was aware of why it’s so important to stick with your nutritional program, this supporting math really reinforces my convictions.
Let’s say you cheat on your caloric intake by +100 every day. Over the course of the year, that equals an extra 10lbs.100 * 365 = 36,500 calories = ~10lbs (there are 3500 calories in one pound of fat)
That’s just from eating 100 extra calories per day. That is equivalent to a few doritos, some of a chocolate bar, a few candies, those last french fries, many other things. It doesn’t take much. Disturbing isn’t it?
Snacking leads to obesity. Period. Our bodies aren’t meant to process most of the crap we put into it. It doesn’t know what to do with it, how to convert it to useful energy, so instead, our systems convert all this garbage into stored energy, which essentially means fat. If you must snack, snack on raw green vegetables – peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, etc, etc. No seasonings. Enjoy the natural flavour as it was intended to be.
The math there is much simpler:
One pound of fat = 3500 calories = 500 less calories per day over 7 days
Really though, the choice is up to you.
CHOICE A = enjoy that extra chocolate bar or bag of chips each day and gain an extra 10 lbs each and every year of your life
CHOICE B = snack on green vegetables and watch your body become a fat burning furnace, shedding 1 – 2 lbs per week just by engaging in proper nutrition
Since there obviously isn’t much of a choice, I’ve taken the liberty of making it even easier for you to decide.
