Fanfest 2012 – Day Two

Today started out in a slightly more subdued manner.

I woke up a bit late, still adjusting to local time, as can happen to the best of us. Immediately I was filled with a ravenous hunger so quickly made my way to the complimentary breakfast buffet to load up for the day. Trust me when I say load up, as in, pack down at least four meal’s worth of food; maybe not the healthiest solution, even though I ate healthy, but definitely the most economical.

Fun fact – Something I haven’t mentioned thus far is my stalker. Yes, a stalker. He’s a seemingly nice guy but really obsessed with the minutae of our galaxy. I realize this is why many of us are here, but not me. I’m here to meet with old friends and new, and to discuss life beyond what we are as capsuleers. There will be time enough for those discussions soon.

The most recent reason I call him a stalker is that as I arrived for breakfast, he announced he had been waiting for me, and was afraid he had missed me. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so quickly and excused myself from a scene.

If you’re reading this, stalker, please don’t misunderstand. I think it’s great that you’re so fascinated and fixated with our galaxy, and obviously a fan of mine, but I need a little breathing space. It’s not you; it’s me. Plus you smell.

Side Rant – Consider this a public service announcement as well for everyone attending Fanfest. There are many natural hot springs within this fine city. Most hotels also have private hot pools and showers. Beyond that, your room is equipped with a shower and complimentary soap. Please, make use of them.

You may think you smell ok, but trust me when I say you don’t. Ladies love a clean, trim man. So suck it up and bathe. Hygiene is important.

Ok, back to day two.

Today was a little more low key for me, as a couple of dear friends arrived. I spent most of the daylight with them, though I was introduced to a fine beverage called Reyka. I’m not usually one for vodkas, but this particular blend was superb – smooth, subtle, and fantastic; at least until I tried to stand. Then it revealed its deceptive power.

Most of the afternoon was spent in a drunken walk with said dear friends, enjoying surprisingly deep conversations, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and all the other fun things I tend to avoid at all costs.

It was nice to be able to let my guard down and simply enjoy.

We split paths mid-evening, and I returned to my accommodations, looking forward to some more time in the hot pool. This time I had a robe.

I made my way down, nude under my robe as is proper, only to discover upon my arrival that the hot pool was coed. When I had first made my nude jaunt to the pool yesterday morning, there was nobody else present, so I really had no idea that it was coed, nor that people wore bathing suits, something I forgot to pack.

At this point, some would hesitate. Some might even go back to their rooms until they could appropriate the essential clothing. Not I.

I shed my robe and made my way into the pool. It seemed only the inadequate males had issue with me. The ladies didn’t say a word, though other positive sounds escaped their lips, as did their breath.

After a relaxing dip in the pool, and a hot steam sauna, I returned to my room, ready to wind down and take things easy for the night.

Talus Veran had other ideas for me, and I soon found myself surrounded by other capsuleers and a lot of complimentary beer; it would seem nerd farming worked.

Enjoyable conversation was had by all, and I managed to secure another 20+ votes on the final day of voting, as well as handed out some Roc swag to fans. It’s good to make appearances.

There was one lady who didn’t like ol’ Roc’s charms, and that’s ok; you’re still good in my books darlin. I also got to do some 38DD testing briefly, though I strongly believe further sampling is required to draw accurate conclusions.

I stumbled across a ringing Neocom on the way back to the hotel. I know if it was mine, I’d want someone to pick it up and return it, so I did. The owner was thankful, and will be arriving at my hotel tomorrow. It feels good to do the right thing. You should try it sometime.

Now, I’m tired, relaxed, a little drunk, and happy to be in this cozy bed.

Tomorrow is a whole other adventure. I look forward to sharing it with you.
