Here’s something you might not know – our universe is overpopulated. There is a livestock shortage. You’ll see livestock on the capsuleer private market sometimes at a premium price. Quite simply, there is not enough remaining agricultural land to sustain the needs and wants of the universe.
A leading group of Gallente scientists has evidence that within another fifty years, all residents in New Eden will be forced to consume alternative protein sources than meat. For capsuleers, not much of an issue. Our pods sustain us with a bio-recycled synthetic protein paste. Most of the galaxy is too poor to afford the price affixed to good grade beef, already relying on algaes, bugs and other protein sources for sustenance.
It’s really only the fat and indulgent Amarr Empire that will experience this issue as a whole. I’d like to end there, but in the interest of being honest, any high class and wealthy society will also suffer. Essentially, the Minmatar will be safe.
Bugs. You’re stuck on that word. Did you know there are over 150,000,000 million species of insects in the universe? They multiply faster than any other consumable organism. It is currently estimated that there are currently 2,000 lbs of edible insect per human per year currently. That’s a pretty good food supply.
Bugs are also pure. By eating them, you’d essentially be going from the bottom of the food chain to the top of the food chain without having to go through all the middlemen. It’s pure win.
