When I started EVE Online I didn’t know that once I created my character’s appearance, that would be it. I’m sure many of us made this same mistake.
Please understand I came from Star Wars Galaxies. In SWG, you could change clothes, wear accessories, have every facet of your appearance changed by an Image Designer for an ingame fee.
Even though EVE Online is all about internet spaceships, I foolishly assumed that I could change my character later on.
So Roc looks like he does.
Then I started messing around with Roc in 3D, as many of you seen, and I’m really pleased with the results. So much so, that I used an empty slot on an alt account to fool around some more with how I think Roc Wieler should look ingame.
Here’s the results:
This looks a lot more like his high resolution 3D representation. I like these lights because of the Minmatar feel they give to the image.
Then there’s this:
I like this one as well because it has darker glasses, and overall gives a more ominous feel.
The bottom line is that I’m considering paying CCP to have my avatar redone. Do I wait for Incarna? Does it really matter? Does anyone care?

You should do what pleases you…it’s only a few dollars to change an avatar. Personally, I like the first image better as it’s more dynamic.
Well, i know you can’t as its now part of your persona, but no glasses would certainly help you navigate darkly lit Fanfest hallways!
If it makes Roc more real to you, and makes you happy, do it.
I’m waiting for incarna personally, to change my appearance. When I started I was not happy with Kirith and almost paid to change his look but eventually he grew on me.
I put no, only because Incarna is going to make whatever you do now moot. Seriously though, it’s up to you. Whatever makes you happy.

That’s the BEST I’ve ever seen. I mean your looks can keep your enemies distracted while shooting the crap out of them.
I’d say the first one, and go ahead and do it, it’ll be a long time til Incarna.

Go for it, Incarna is light years off. Who knows when it will be here. I’ve actually considered doing it myself.
Did a portrait swap myself when I turned outlaw, because I felt that is what my character would do. And that is enough of a reason to do so really.
One thing I find curious though is that just as with your own appearance if you stare at the same face every day you really start to detect flaws in it.
I do want a makeover store in Incarna though, even if it is limited to a new hairstyle. Don’t care if it will cost me ISK or real money.
