Too much out of character recently; Capsuleer is going to drop me from their Headlines section soon if I don’t smarten up.
Announcing the Bio CD, now available from the Store of Roc, my brand new Cafepress store. There’s also a new link on the right side menu to take you there.
Bio is a professional grade CD, complete with Jewel Case and 3 page insert booklet. All music and associated artwork is 100% original.
Track Listing:
- Prelude
- Path to Freedom
- Child of New Eden
- Bio
- Capsuleer
- Virgin Clone
- Boosters
- Brutor
- Nemesis
- Black Hole
- Malkalen
- War Declaration
- Matar Colonel
- Rise of the Republic
- Roc’s Renegades
- Instrospection (End Credits)
The CD sells for $14.99 USD. Cafepress takes a pretty large chunk of that of course, but I think it’s worth it just to be able to get a small piece of my vision to those who might have interest.
This is very exciting for me, as this is my first commercially available CD. I hope you all enjoy listening to it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
Hmm… CaferPress can’t seem to find your CD for me. Link doesn’t work either. I’ll buy it as soon as I can though…
@Psyche – Just checked the link, seems to be working fine. It’s http://www.cafepress.com/storeofroc
Thanks to a personal notification *blows kiss at Roc*, I was able to order my copy early and it is en route! Can’t wait to get it!
@Roc: BTW, very nice symbolism using the evolving Bio graphic to represent an emerging product; the graphic is magnificent in all its forms.
Will you be posting up more snippits of the audio tracks? Even a 10-15 second sample of each track would incent me to buy it if it struck a chord with me.
@Silicon – I did put the entire title track up, though at lower quality. I will probably not put up snippets, as being an orchestral soundtrack piece, each song has much variation to it, and 15 seconds wouldn’t really capture any of them.
@SiliconBuddha: I am 100% sure that Roc’s CD will be worth every penny and will get a lot of airtime on my iPod…based on the one sample linked above as well as the pieces he shared in a blog post a few weeks ago asking readers to vote on a theme song for his corp/fleet. If you buy BIO and don’t like it, *I* will purchase your copy. How’s that for a personal guarantee?
Buying it today.
I feel rather meh about paying money for music from a friend(ly acquaintance), but I have got to say from the samples I’ve had, it’s worth it.
I kind of wish you worked a digital download option, as that would be a fair bit less expensive for the consumer, and probably more profitable for you.
All this said, I’ve ordered a copy. Looking forward to it’s arrival!
@Sard – I appreciate you buying the CD, and everyone else who has. It’s the artist dilemma we’ve all heard a thousand times over. If I make it available for digital download I’m almost asking people to put it up for free for others to download, as it involves no effort, and like you said, probably didn’t cost a lost to purchase digitally.
If you have to pay a little more to buy the CD, and make the effort of ripping the CD, you are less likely to post it for others for free. You being generic here, not you specifically.
Maybe on a future release I will look into a digital download method as well. I appreciate your feedback.
Don’t make me headbutt you.
\o/
I think I touched upon something with the headbutt comment earlier. /me watches Roc polish his forehead
Just bought the CD. I would have preferred a digital download, seeing how shipping to Europe takes anywhere between 2 weeks and half the lifetime of a newborn star, but, I can understand why you wouldn’t want your creation to end up on the Pirate Bay right away. Anyway, thanks, I’ve been looking forward to this for some time now.
Love the CD. I’ve listened to it many, many times since it arrived. The music is inspiring and beautiful.
Just checked the Store of Roc.
Seems like the Tee-Shirt model’s shirts have nothing on them 😦
They look pretty good, though the words/font could be a little bigger!
Can i get a free cd?
@wessam – No? But I guarantee you’ll enjoy the CD should you purchase it.
This album is one of many testaments to EVE as a game which inspires its player community to produce such awesome content.
Okay, that sounded cheesy. I’m just looking forward to your next artwork Roc.
Just picked up your CD — my only complaint: I WANT MORE. Great work, it’s definitely going on my Jukebox (http://www.waypointreached.com/jukebox/) list. Is this something that you could offer on iTunes? I know a lot of people like digital downloads, but I don’t know what Apple’s cut would be. Anyway, thanks for the great tunes.
Thanks for picking up the CD, I’m glad you liked it. I’ve been looking into the iTunes option. Unfortunately, Apple is very strict about music. I would need to be under a label, etc, which I am not, and don’t even know where to start.
I am working on my second CD now, “One Night of Roc”, and hope to make a digital download available somehow.
Got my cd in the mail yesterday and I like it a lot :). Especially the title track and the final one :).
BTW would cd baby be an idea for digital distribution ?
The sample is very promising. What software do you use to compose and produce the music?
Well, if I told you that, then everyone would be making CDs, and I’d be out of work in this area. 😛
This is worth it. I don’t even play EvE. I don’t know Roc.
But this music is friggin sweet.
just listened to the bio taster and that is friggin epic lol. I may even be tempted to buy that album. really good job roc
1 CD Ordered. Got to wait a while though to get it shipped to the UK. Can’t wait 🙂
Really appreciate that. Do me a favour? Email me as well and I will arrange for you to get the bonus track that is coming with the iTunes digital version of the CD, hopefully coming soon.
