EON Magazine

Out of character again today. I’m going to talk about our iPhone application for a moment, Capsuleer. You can find more details HERE.

Our fanbase for Capsuleer has been awesome! With over 6400 installs to date, Sam and I are motivated and excited to keep bringing more functionality and slick styling to the application.

We’ve also started an advertising campaign.

We’ve taken out a full page advertisement in EON Magazine, the Official Eve Online magazine, AND have an interview in this month’s issue. We’re also writing an article for the next issue of EON about working with the EVE API.

I’ve only ever read the free samples of EON personally (Sorry!), but I am actually going to be purchasing three copies of the January issue.

I encourage you all to order your copy as well. From what I’ve read, and what the Eve Online forums say, it’s an amazing magazine.

You will also see our ad randomly this year during the EVE Online startup. That will be a serious thrill.

Sam and I want to thank everyone once again for your continued support and motivation! It sounds cheesy, but it really does give us the strength we need to get the job done.

Here’s a sneak peek of the ad. Enjoy!

  1. I have a running subscription to EON, and look forward to your ads and interview.

I really wish I could afford an iPhone, if only to use your app.

If you want some older issues of EON to check out, I can loan you mine. Let me know and I’ll bring them along.

  2. Looks great! Who wouldn’t want to see that face staring at them when logging in? *wink* Seriously, best luck with Capsuleer; you guys are off to a great start. Now I *am* gonna have to bite the bullet and buy this month’s issue!

  3. @Psyche – Actually, borrowing a few issues of EON would be fantastic. Anything to do with lowsec, marketing, and maps would be very welcome please.

  4. @Tony – erm, what? No notify emails. It’s currently not doable as I mentioned in a recent post. WHEN it’s doable, it’ll be in there.

Thanks for the kind words regarding the app. We’re very excited about v1.1

  5. @Tony – My bad, I thought you were referring to notifications in Capsuleer when your skill training has completed.

Glad you are getting email notifications of threads you’ve subscribed to.

  6. You got it, Roc. I’ll see what I can dig up.

Quick question about Capsuleer: Will there be different versions in the future for other smartphones like Blackberries, Androids, Palms, etc…?

  7. @Psyche – As mentioned in our EVE-Mag interview, the EON interview, on the EVE-Online forums, and in the Capsuleer blog, there are no current plans to port Capsuleer to anything but iPhone/iTouch. Though we would like to see it on other platforms, we’re just two guys doing this in what little spare time we seem to have, so not likely.

  8. Sorry. Stupid question.

Hm… maybe if I got an iTouch. I’ll have to look into that. My Creative Zen is almost dead and I’ve been debating between a Zune and another Creative. Add iTouch to the list for the single reason that i can have Capsuleer on it.

  9. LOL…I just told my Mister last night that I should get an iTouch and give him my iPod. Then I could use Capsuleer. *begins to formulate rationale why this should happen before birthday*

  10. Well, I just spied someone’s face on an advertisement before logging in.

A heart felt congratulations to you two tech wizards conjuring a storm! I’ve heard nothing but great things about this application from the many friends that have used it personally.

Have either of you two worked out a plan for compensation yet? I heard some gossip stating there may be a required donation of isk for the app in the future? Something like that?

    • There will be licensing for corporate features of Capsuleer. Individual features will always be free.

We also receive compensation for player ads to show on Capsuleer, as well as compensation for additional player blogs on the application.
